Solar leads from homeowners who have done the maths.
Solar buyers research for weeks before they ask for a quote. We find the ones with a suitable roof, a real budget and a reason to act this year, then book them in or hand them to you while they are still warm.
Solar buyers ask harder questions than most
A solar enquiry is rarely "how much?". It is "how long until it pays for itself, should I add a battery now or later, and what happens with my export tariff?". Published UK price guides put a typical small residential system in the mid to high thousands, with a battery adding several thousand more. At that level homeowners want numbers, not a brochure.
That makes the first conversation more technical than in most trades. It also makes it slower. A homeowner might download a guide in March, get a quote in May and sign in September. Installers who stay in touch through that gap win. Those who wait for the homeowner to call back usually do not.
The details that shape every sale
- MCS certification. Homeowners generally need an MCS-certified installation to be paid for exported electricity under the Smart Export Guarantee. Many will ask about it on the first call.
- VAT. Residential solar panels, and batteries installed alongside them, are currently zero-rated for VAT in Great Britain until 31 March 2027. That date creates a natural reason to act, and you should expect more questions about it as it approaches.
- Grid notification. Your team handles DNO notification or, for larger systems and many solar plus battery setups, prior approval under G99. Homeowners rarely know this exists, but it affects your install dates.
- Roof suitability. Orientation, shading, roof condition and space all matter. A lead with a north-facing slate roof covered in moss is not the same as a south-facing tiled roof with no trees.
- Existing panels. A growing number of enquiries come from people who already have solar and want a battery retrofit. That is a different conversation, a different price and often a different team.
When the phone rings
Interest tends to rise with energy price headlines and longer days. Spring and summer feel busy, but autumn and winter are when you need leads banked for the next install season. A pipeline you can switch up and down by postcode is worth more than a fixed monthly volume.
We ask the roof questions so your surveyor does not have to.
Certified means the homeowner has confirmed their details and interest by replying to an SMS or speaking to us. Each lead is exclusive and delivered in real time. Indicative pricing starts from £20 per lead, ex VAT; solar typically sits above the floor because of the extra qualification.
| We qualify on | Why it matters for solar |
|---|---|
| Homeowner, freehold house | Panels on a leasehold flat or rented home need permissions the enquirer usually cannot give. |
| Product | Panels only, panels plus battery, or a battery retrofit to existing panels. |
| Roof type and orientation | A quick self-report on direction, shading and material weeds out obvious non-starters. |
| Electricity usage or bill band | Higher users usually make a stronger case, and your designer gets a head start. |
| Timescale | This season, within six months, or just researching. You set the cut-off. |
| Funding route | Cash, finance or undecided, so your rep knows which conversation to have. |
| Postcode coverage | Only areas within reach of your install teams and scaffolders. |
Home surveys booked by an AI that understands kilowatt hours.
Our VoiceAI calls each new enquirer, confirms ownership and roof basics, asks about annual usage, budget and timescale, and books a home survey or a remote design call, whichever your process uses.
It sends a confirmation and a reminder, and can ask the homeowner to have a recent energy bill to hand. Your surveyor arrives to a prepared customer. Indicative pricing starts from £130 per appointment, ex VAT, covered by the 72-hour replacement.

Qualify on budget and timescale
Plus roof, usage and battery interest.
Book and remind
Into your calendar, with notes on the record.
Keep long-cycle buyers warm without hiring a call centre.
Built and run by our EngageAI team. Managed agents from £497 a month, custom projects from £2,500, typically live in 1 to 3 weeks.
A chatbot for the technical questions
Answers panel, inverter, battery and warranty questions from a knowledge base you approve, around the clock. When the homeowner is ready, it books the survey.
Nurture across the gap
Months can pass between first enquiry and signature. AI SMS and calls check in at sensible intervals, so you are the installer they remember when they decide.
Battery upsell to past customers
Customers who bought panels without storage are an obvious audience. VoiceAI can contact them, where lawful, and book battery surveys.
Install-day updates
Customers ring to ask when the scaffold is coming. VoiceAI answers from your job system so the office does not have to.
CRM integration
Leads, call recordings, survey notes and design files in one record, whether you run HubSpot, Zoho, Salesforce or a spreadsheet.
Honest, disclosed AI
Every call starts with a disclosure that the caller is speaking to an AI, and a human handover is always available.
Leads or appointments? Work it out per sale.
Invented figures to show the reasoning. Not a client result.
You do the booking
- 50 leads at an assumed £35 = £1,750
- Your team books, say, 15 surveys
- Say 1 in 5 surveys signs = 3 sales
- Lead cost per sale: about £583
Plus the hidden cost of your staff time making the calls.
We do the booking
- 15 surveys at an assumed £150 = £2,250
- Same 1 in 5 close rate = 3 sales
- Appointment cost per sale: £750
- No staff time spent chasing
Route B looks dearer until you price your own call time. That is the conversation worth having.
Solar and battery questions
Can you send battery-only leads for homes that already have solar?
Yes. Battery retrofit is a separate product in our criteria, so you can buy those leads on their own, alongside new solar leads, or not at all.
Do you check whether the roof is suitable?
We ask the homeowner about roof direction, shading and material as part of qualification. It is a self-report, not a survey, so your designer still needs to confirm suitability.
Do I need to be MCS certified to buy your leads?
We do not require it, but most solar buyers expect it because it is generally needed for Smart Export Guarantee payments. If you are certified, our AI can say so when homeowners ask.
Will your AI give homeowners savings figures?
No. It does not promise savings or payback periods. It captures usage and budget so your designer can produce a proper estimate.
What happens to demand after the VAT relief ends?
We cannot predict it. The current zero rate on residential solar and batteries fitted with it runs to 31 March 2027, and we expect homeowners to ask about it. Campaigns can be scaled up or down by postcode as the market changes.
Are the leads exclusive?
Yes. A certified lead is sold to one installer only.
Can the AI book remote design calls instead of home visits?
Yes. We book whichever first step your sales process uses, whether that is a video call, a phone consultation or a surveyor on site.
